OK, here goes nothing…
Alright, after much convincing from someone (you know who you are) I have decided to start a tumblr.
Oy gevalt.
Well, sitting here in my lovely Parisian apartment, eating my new chocolates fresh from Bruxelles, it came to me in a flash (otherwise known as a comment by you-know-who-you-are’s sister) - I am chock full of random information. And who better than to share it with but people I don’t know who might possibly be intrigued by the idea of knowing something that no one else does and then telling them about it and getting that rush of adrenaline. It’s such a high.
Like riding a roller coaster. First there’s the build-up, the slow choppy climb to the top. You look to your friends thinking, “oh crap, I should take off my sunglasses”, or “ooo, I can see our car from here!”, and maybe “I shouldn’t have eaten that huge burger and fries”. All of which stay in your head except for the car one. That’s actually really neat. No one cares about the sunglasses or the fact that you might be about to vom all over your neighbor, or possibly the whiny little boy 4 rows back that’ll end up below you on one of the spirals. He did beat you at the strongest man contest. Aim well.
As you turn the corner, and you feel that sudden tightening in your stomach, the anticipation of what’s to come - a feeling so strong it’s about to take over your whole body until…WHOOSH! You’re off on an adventure!
You know the feeling. Sitting, or standing if you like, amongst a group of people - friends, family, strangers with candy - and you know that it’s coming. They’re already on the subject of the ocean. And suddenly someone narrows it down to eating seafood. You know your time is near. It’s almost planned. Wait! Someone just brought up a story about snorkeling. Phew, you can relax, they nixed that. The next person picks up where they left off, even moving onto shellfish. It’s so perfect, it’s so close, it’s almost, it’s almost….”1 in every 5000 North American lobsters is blue!” you scream at your group.
The giddy smile on your face says it all: mission accomplished.
You take a deep breath of air and try to calm your system while everyone else looks around slightly confused. But, hey, they weren’t on that roller coaster, they might need a little explaining. You realize that it’s alright, maybe this time after you explain you can use your cunning and skill and maneuver the conversation towards copyrights…
There are always good copyright facts…
À bientôt mes jeunes connaisseurs
